Let’s take a deeper look into this app’s features, pros, and cons.

- Records both outgoing and incoming calls

- Downloadable MP3s

- Custom labels for recordings

- Easy sharing of recordings

- Supports multiple languages

Cons:

- The sound quality can get bad at times

- All recorded calls are stored on the TapeACall server for one year

- May seem expensive compared to the competitors

Recording phone calls can be useful for a number of reasons. For some people, it is an important part of their daily job, others want to keep a record of conversations with their friends, but no matter the reasons, if you are in need of a new call recording app, it could be challenging to choose the right one with so many choices out there.

TapeACall is an iOS call recording app that lets you record all conversations on your iPhone including incoming calls, outgoing calls, and even calls that you are already on. Then you will be able to easily share the recordings with people of your choice or simply keep them for your own personal use. However, keep in mind that you should always let the other party know that the conversation is being recorded because it is illegal to record someone speaking without their knowledge.

App Design

TapeACall is an app with a very simple design which makes it really easy to navigate. You will see a big red button on the dark background and once you tap it, your recording will start. That is all there is to it. An additional button will appear once the conversation has been recorded and you will be able to play the recording or to customize it under the Settings button.

There, you will also be able to watch a short how-to video to understand exactly how the app works and you will also have access to the state laws regarding phone recording. Keep in mind that the law differs from country to country so make sure that your location is correct and that you are up to date with the current local laws regarding phone conversation recording.

How Does It Work?

In order to start using the app, you will first have to register your device with TapeACall service. Once you access the registration link, you will be sent a PIN in an SMS message and that PIN combined with the country of your location will be used to activate the app. After that, you will be able to start recording your iPhone conversations.

All you have to do is open the app, hit the record button, tap Add a call, and dial the number you wish to call. After that, you will notice the option Merge a call and it is essential that you tap it because this is actually how the call recording works. Basically, it will be a three-way conversation where the 3rd party will actually be used for call recording. Don’t worry if the call doesn’t get merged immediately. It usually happens instantly, but it can take up as much as 30 seconds.

If you wish to record a call that you are already on or an incoming call, the procedure is very similar. All you have to do is put the caller on hold, open TapeACall, and enable the Merge Calls option. Once you do that, the conversation will be recorded just like all your outgoing calls.

There is also an option to activate Beep tones which are used to periodically remind both you and the other party that the call is being recorded. You will hear a simple “beep” every minute that will let you know that the app is running and the conversation is still being recorded. Of course, if you wish not to be disturbed by this sound, you can easily disable this option and continue with the conversation.

Storing and Sharing of the Recordings

All of your recordings will be stored in the app as well as on the TapeACall server for one year. For some people, the fact that the conversations are stored somewhere besides their iPhone seems like a huge con of this app. However, it can also be a big pro, especially if you delete or lose your recording for one reason or another and need to access them again.

You can listen to the recorded conversations directly from the app, you can send them to cloud services such as Dropbox or Google Drive, or you can simply share them via popular social media channels such as Facebook. You can also easily send them via email or SMS to the person or persons of your choice. All recordings will automatically be converted to MP3 audio files.

If recording conversations is a part of your daily routine and you finish the day with numerous recordings stored in your app, the good news is that you can label them however you like to make it easier to find the recordings that you need at any given moment.

What’s Good?

TapeACall comes with many good sides that make it a great app for recording conversations of iPhone. It is super easy to use and it is also quite reliable in performance. It allows you to record all types of calls including incoming calls, outgoing calls, and even calls that you are already on. On top of that, sharing the recordings is also extremely easy with multiple sharing options this app comes with.

Once you pay your subscription, you will be able to record unlimited calls and this is what truly makes this app stand out from the competition. While most of the call recording apps charge the users per-minute, with TapeACall you don’t have to worry about how much time you have used and how much you have left — the time is truly unlimited.

What is Bad?

Some might argue that TapeACall Pro is expensive compared to the competition because we already have many free call recording apps for iOS available for download. And while that might be true, if you are a person who needs high-quality recordings on a daily basis, it might just be worth your money. While there are some great free apps out there, they don’t really come close to this one in features and quality. The biggest difference is that the majority of cheaper apps can’t record both sides of the conversation or can only record. Ultimately, when speaking about price, it all comes down to your own personal needs and budget.

On the other hand, sound quality can also get shaky at times, but this is something that happens rarely and it usually has more to do with the device used than the app itself. Overall, the quality of the recordings is solid for both sides of the conversation.

Lastly, some people also argue that the fact that the recordings are stored on the TapeACall server for one year is a con because they don’t feel comfortable with having their private conversations stored somewhere outside their own phone or cloud account. However, this also might come in handy in case you lose access to some of your recordings and need to find them again.

Conclusion

All in all, TapeACall is a call recording app that performs admirably compared to the competition. If you don’t need call recording on a daily basis and you only want to record a single conversation for one reason or another, it might not be worth your money. If, on the other hand, you are in the need of recording calls for your everyday job, this app might be one of the best call recording apps. The price-quality ratio is great and the app will perform exactly as advertised.
